Have we lost our faith in carbon offsetting? Hi guys I'm running a poll over on my blog about carbon offsetting, and am interested in your thoughts. Since posting it, I'm feeling more conflicted about the topic, particularly after having spoken to a (unbiased) specialist in the field, who feels that it does have a place in c02 reduction, but only if businesses and individuals are willing to make other sacrifices.
What do you think? Please go and vote here if you have an opinion either way.

The Phantom Queen Awakes
The Phantom Queen Awakes A Dark Celtic Anthology Edited by Mark S. Deniz & Amanda Pillar It may come as little surprise to the friends of Morrígan Books that Mark S. Deniz has decided to dedicate an anthology to the publishing company’s patron goddess, the Morrígan. The collection will be edited by Mark, with in-house editor, Amanda Pillar as co-editor. To date, Elaine Cunningham, Katherine Kerr and C. E. Murphy have agreed to write for the anthology. The Morrígan is commonly portrayed as a triple goddess, but her tripartite nature is uncertain at best. This ambiguity shall be at the heart of The Phantom Queen Awakes.

Competition to win a large format Canon printer I received this email and thought someone here might be interested to enter.
A competition to win a large format Canon printer. They are very expensive and very useful bits of kit and allow people who make original art or photos to turn their work into high quality prints which they can then sell. This cuts out the middle man and gives the artist complete freedom to set up what is effectively their own print shop at home! All you have to do to enter the competition is send a jpeg (must be smaller then 500KB and the file name must include the artist's name) to competition@fineart.co.uk by the 15th of September - that's all you have to do!" Can you also add that all finalists will be notified by the 1st of October.
The image you send must have selling potential and please don't send anything too risqué! Paintings, drawings, photographs and printmaking all welcome! You can see last year's winner and runners up here - http://www.fineart.co.uk/pdf/canoncompetition2007.pdf The runners up and winners will be featured in a coming issue of Art Business Today magazine, exhibited at Canon's office in London (where you'll be invited to a champagne reception) and the winner will be featured in their own 3 page follow up article. So far, we have a small amount of entrants and we need more! There's nothing to lose and a huge amount of exposure and a lovely printer to gain. If you know someone else who may be interested, please forward this email

A Birthday Gift for Liam (Public) I'm making this journal entry public, so pass it on!)

A post from a dear friend:
For those interested, right here in Tacoma you can have the test done. So please encourage all of your friends to drop by and have a swab done. Minorities are free in an effort to diversify the bone marrow registry.
You could save someone's son, nephew, daughter, mother, uncle, baby, child or parent.
I received this from PSBC - You can donate in Tacoma on the 27th of August (Liam's 4th birthday!)
*** Thank you for your interest!
You can go into any one of our Puget Sound Blood Centers or look on www.psbc.org for our drive schedules to attend a drive. Just let the staff know you would like to join the bone marrow Registry. They will give you a registration form and a Buccal swab kit to complete. There is a $52 tax-deductable fee for Caucasians wishing to join the Registry to help pay for the HLA typing. You may include the $52 with your registration form pay able to Puget Sound Blood Center (if applicable). If the fee is not included with the form, we will send out a letter requesting payment once the registration form is received. Minorities are fully funded right now to join in efforts to diversify the Registry.
***I just found out yesterday that there will be a drive at The Gyft Clinic on 8/27 - (502 South M Street #200 Tacoma, WA 98405) This drive is not yet on the website***
Please look on www.marrow.org for more information about the National Marrow Donor Program.
Thanks again for contacting us & let us know if you have any questions.

![[User Picture]](http://p-userpic.livejournal.com/61672969/98057) [Link] | So back over the weekend, while going through some stuff, Gavin picked up my saxophone and pulled it out...I haven't played it since shortly after it was given to me a couple of years ago, partly because it's not really in very good shape, partly because it's an alto and dammit, I want a tenor.
I sucked on the reed a bit and gave it a shot to see how it sounded...a bit better than I remembered though it took me a few tries to get it sounding semi-decent, but it felt really good to play, even for a few minutes. I should find a music store and pick up a book and learn the fingering....
Add this to my list of things which I must make a more conscious effort to do more often....

Natural Antibacterial
With my current obsession or more like lifelong obession with Tattoos and piercings I think its about time I found out some natural ways to help fight infection a gentle way of looking after them. Aside from the normal aftercare technique I was hoping to find a good antibacterial for helping against infection but with skin as sensitve as mine it might be an idea. I heard wintergreen is good and I think someone told me tea tree oil Even though I will never put it a new mod) but I hoping to know more... (Aside from Sea salt)
NB: I not a novice to body modification...

OK, I don't think I'm allowed to listen to hip-hop music at work anymore. I'm all bouncy and riled up and wanting to go clubbing. Not sure if they get the Billerica security camera feeds down in Rockland, but if anyone's paying attention I'm sure it's amusing to watch me boogie through the halls on my rounds.

Out of the mouthes of Babes Tonight my daughter decided that it was time to tell us all she knew about terradactyls (you know, the big gliding non feathered dinosaurs that had the mohawk thing like cockatiels <---her words) She went on to say that they were extinct, probably due to the heat. It was at this point that her father interjected (as is typical for him when he is pulling her leg) that the terradactyls really became extinct because we overloaded them with the passenger compartments and rode them to hard. Our dauhter then looked at him and replied "No daddy, your not THAT old!"

help? Right, well I'm essentially fucked. Long story short, a friend of my mother found my profile on myspace (same as LJ), and doesn't seem to understand the simple etiquette that if you're not a member, it's none of your damn business. My mom called me out on it, by using my little brother's profile to have a look for herself. I've had a stern conservative Christian upbringing so this IS an issue. My mother has known nothing but the church, her faith was drummed into her by her mother. My father, on the other side of the coin, had essentially no religious guides until he decided to look for faith. He found it in Christianity, and I can respect that. My mother agreed to keep the matter under wraps until I could discuss it with my father, who at the VERY LEAST, will listen to my experiences and views. Any tips for "coming out of the broom closet"?....or in this case, "having the door kicked in and being dragged out of said closet"?

Yet another post... Would someone care to briefly enlighten me on how to download brushes for Photoshop? I'm looking at getting some cute heart brushes (for LaVerne icons, ya'll!), and other than downloading them from the website, I don't know how to add them to Photoshop. Are they automatically added once you download them from the website or do I have to do something else?

Computer and more The computer parts came in. Everything except the ram, so I got a couple sticks to use temporarily. For the curious, it's a 2.6 Ghz dual core processor, soon to be 1 gig of ram and an onboard GeForce 6 until I get an actual video card. I'll probably put it on my birthday/christmas list along with another gig of ram or something along those lines.
In other news, I'm already fucking sold on this game:
